As an artist and counsellor, I believe through art it is possible to engage a world which may not always be accessible to us in other ways.
“The task of therapy is not to eliminate suffering but to give a voice to it, to find a form in which it can be expressed. Expression is itself transformation; this is the message that art brings. The therapist then would be an artist of the soul, working with sufferers to enable them to find the proper container for their pain, the form in which it would be embodied.” – Stephen K. Levine
My art is my therapy and my salvation. When I produce an art piece I connect first with my breathe. Then I visualise that which I am creating in my mind. I immerse my senses into my subject matter and then I imagine breathing it onto the canvas through my hands, which I call my wands. My hope is that when others see my work they experience at least some of the love and passion that I experience when I create the images.
